Carina Tenewaa Kanbi is currently studying for her Doctorate at the African Centre for Migration and Society (ACMS) at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. She is part of the African Research Universities Alliance Migration and Mobility Cohort, supported by the Mellon Foundation. Her thesis titled ‘The West African Wave: Understanding Creative Cosmopolitanism, Lifeworld’s, and Mobility within the Continent’s Cultural Capitals’ explores the lives of young West Africans working within the Creative Industries living in Accra and Lagos. Carina, who is based in Accra has experience in youth employability and skills partnerships with a specific focus on West Africa having worked for both private and public organisations within this realm. Carina holds a Master’s of Science in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam, her thesis focuses on West African labour migration and ECOWAS identity.
