Derya Ozkul

Derya Ozkul is a Research Officer at the Refugee Studies Centre, Department of International Development, University of Oxford. She is currently working as part of Prof Cathryn Costello’s ERC-funded project, Refugees are Migrants: Refugee Mobility, Recognition and Rights, and leads the research in Turkey and Lebanon. Dr Ozkul has also recently been awarded the John Fell Fund by the University of Oxford. As a Principal Investigator in this project, she works on the governance of new technologies in ‘migration management’ with a particular focus on Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan. Previously, Derya Ozkul taught various units at the University of Sydney, School of Social and Political Sciences, including Sociological Theory, Sociology of Terrorism, Human Rights and Social Protest, Social Movements and Protest Politics. She is an active member of the Association for Migration Research in Turkey. She has published widely in many areas related to international migration and displacement particularly in Turkey, Lebanon and Germany and Australia.
